Body Control Unit (BCU)

It’s hard to plainly describe all functions of the Body Control Unit (BCU), but simply put it manages all common functions that the other control units don’t. Because it’s such a diverse system, the BCU has to cooperate with several other control units and therefore has to cope with loads of signals and messages. This important role is clearly visible by the way the BCU is hard-wired into the main networks. Although it has many benefits, simple failures could trigger major problems.

With over 15 years of experience in the electronic remanufacturing field, our experts know the typical challenges of testing BCUs and locating the real source of the problems. Currently customers in over 20 different countries make use of our services. Over the past decades, we’ve managed to reverse engineer thousands of signals that are used in the mobility industry, like for instance CAN signals. We incorporated this knowledge into our advanced simulator test platforms for our entry tests and End-of-Life (EOL) tests.

Highly automated methods are used in order to achieve a low cost high quality remanufacturing process:

  • Components are disassembled by using advanced automatic tools
  • Repetitive movements are carried out by robot arms
  • The cleaning procedure can be performed with automated wet blasting, automated dry ice blasting or even robotised ultrasonic cleaning
  • The component can be opened by CNC, its casting compound can be chemically or mechanically removed and (parts of) the housing can be renewed
  • All components and parts are transported by Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
  • More complex and specialist operations require our ultrasonic wire bonding machines, BGA placement equipment, various test and simulation platforms and fully automated glue dispensing robots

Our methods have been developed with a clear goal in mind: to achieve the highest possible efficiency. This results in a short turnaround time with a high reliability.

The entire process is carried out according to ISO9001 and ISO14001 in an ESD protected environment (IATF16949 to be expected).
